Writing fiction is my third act. My first was advertising, which, at its best, was a laugh riot; eventually I looked for a career more meaningful, and landed a role as executive director of an environmental education nonprofit. I worked with a variety of colorful clients and colleagues, from those who were artlessly selfless to those with secret and double-secret agendas. Years that inform my fiction with spears and haloes of satire. Like Tolstoy sort of said: All pleasant people are alike; each unpleasant person is unpleasant in their own way.

My novel THE WILD-MANNERED PROFESSOR is under contract with a literary agent; my novel-in-progress THE WAYLAID LOBBYIST is in final draft mode; my novel HORTON BAY BOOGIE is underway.

My short stories and two excerpts from my novels can be found in Gray's Sporting Journal, Consequence Magazine, THE Sonora Review, The MacGuffin, and several other literary journals. I am a two-time finalist for the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Award for Short Fiction.
